Yeah! Classical Lessons for Renaissance and Reformation Times!!

I'm finished with another guide for the series by Dorothy Mills. I'm so excited and relieved. Because the preview at Lulu is so limited, please check the PDF sample at the Bookstore at A Mind in the Light for a fuller sample. I hope this proves helpful. Please let me know if you see any errors or have any questions. Feel free to email me through the contact section at the website.

On the Seashore

On the Seashore by R. Cadwallader Smith is part of the Eyes and No Eyes Series. This series was often used in the PNEU programs in the lower years. I've included this volume (V. VII) for use with the guide I'm currently writing titled Classical Lessons in Marine Biology. I had included a link for the only public domain version of it, from Gutenberg, but then decided to try and reformat it and offer it as a very inexpensive copy for purchase. In general, I've only made some very minor edits to it, generally those flagged, changed the spelling from British to American and reorganized the pictures a little. I hope this will prove to be helpful once the guide is complete. The other books needed for this guide can generally be purchased through major book selling companies. Of those books needed, this was the only book available in the public domain, and so the only book in which I can do this.

I'm still working hard on the guides for The Middle Ages, Renaissance and Reformation Times and 16th-18th Century History as well as the guide for Marine Biology.

And again...I would be very grateful to anyone who has purchased any of my guides, found errors in them and lets me know. I would like very much to correct them.

Also, if you are financially restricted or would simply prefer to print your own version of this book, send me an email through the contact section of the website (A Mind in the Light) and I'll send you a PDF copy of it.

ETA: For some reason when I went back and edited something in the book, Lulu was requiring me to charge $7.80 at a minimum per book. I can't seem to get around this, so the charge will have to stand. Apparently this is the least amount to which I can set the price.

Just a Quick Update

I have moved the majority of the posts that were here on this blog over to the new website. If you are looking for a particular post that you can no longer find here, you may be able to access it there.

I will eventually take this blog offline, but for now I don't plan on doing right away. I will be sure to post here before I do that.

I hope you are enjoying the new website. I will be continuing to transfer links and posts over the summer as well as continuing to work on preparing guides for publishing. I'm currently working on the 16th-18th Century guide and plan to have it finished next month. At that point, I will begin working diligently on the guides for The Middle Ages and Renaissance and Reformation Times, both of which I have started.

I'll also be working hard on the guide for marine biology. I'm currently writing the notes for The Sea Around Us for it. I'll need to spend some time on the science explorations (labs and demonstrations) and then will do my final edits.

Here is a sneak peak at the books included so far for the guide for Classical Lessons for Marine Biology, a guide for ages 8-12:

On the Seashore by R. Cadwallader Smith
Life in a Tidal Pool by Alvin and Virginia Silverstein
Mammals of the Sea by Alvin and Virginia Silverstein
Pagoo by Holling C. Holling
Oceans by Seymour Simon
The Sea Around Us by Rachel Carson (Young Reader's Edition)

Classical Lessons for A Child's History of the World

Finally...yes....finally! I have this ready now.

This guide covers the entire A Child's History of the World by V.M. Hillyer. The same lessons in this guide will be included in the complete guides for Year One, Year Two and Year Three, except the latter guides will include the reading schedules for both CHOW and Britannia or CHOW and Our Island Story.

This guide includes all the reading preparation notes, some map work, words to know, chart of proper nouns, narration suggestions, additional reading suggestions and activities and some art study selections. Each year includes a corresponding book list for reading aloud and independent reading. Additional resources and links can be found at the website A Mind in the Light. Look under Resources and then under the year in which the resources are needed. For example, an additional activity is suggested for Chapter 6. You can find the link needed for it under Resources, Year One and then under A Child's History of the World.

If you would like a better sample than is offered with Lulu's preview, please feel free to send me an email under Contact at the website or leave me a comment. I may even just put one up at the website, if it seems that I should.

I hope this is helpful!

Introducing A Mind in the Light-the Website!

The website is now officially linked but still needs a great deal of work before it is complete. However, if you'd like to take a look at it, I've linked it above. :) I can't express how excited I am to finally get this started. I hope you like the look of the website and find it user friendly. If you have any comments or constructive criticism, please feel free to contact me. At the website is a page for contacting me through email. I welcome any feedback and thoughts you'd like to share.

I will be taking down the blog at some point in the near future, but will give some notice before I do that.

And I'll be continuing to work on publishing books at Lulu. For now, I won't be creating my own store, but will link to Lulu for any books published. I also hope to create an Amazon bookstore soon too. Maybe in the future I can create my own store. :)

I hope everyone had and continues to have Happy Holidays!

Also, the links and resources have been moved to the website. Look under Resources and the links are available under the year in which that book is used. For example, The Book of the Ancient World is used in Year Five and the links for this book are under Resources-subpage Year Five.

ETA: Yes, I've finally finished Classical Lessons for The Book of the Ancient Romans!
